Best wishes from the basketball champions for a fifteen year old who lost his father in an accident – Fiemme – Fassa

CAVALESE. The strength of sport is all here. Giving emotions, relieving daily fatigue, snatching a smile from those who are going through a dark moment. The protagonists of this story are a family from the Val di Fiemme and some professional players of Italian basketball.

The champions of the wedge ball the most beautiful basket, this time, did it with a mobile phone in their hands.

A few days ago a young man from Val di Fiemme Basket turned 15 years old.

A special day, that of the birthday, but at the same time tremendously difficult, because the first since the father is gone, victim of an accident at the end of September.

Basketball is the boy’s great passion and it is also the sport that united (and continues to unite, even more after the tragic episode) mum, dad and son, sitting on the sofa watching the games and cheering on Aquila Basket Trento, the team of the heart.

A special birthday, the one the young man was waiting for, which his mother Francesca Piovesan decided to make unique.

In the days leading up to the event, he contacted some players through social networks to explain the history of the family and the trauma suffered, asking the availability of a simple message of good wishes for their child, to make him feel less alone in this difficult period.

The answers were not long in coming, far exceeding Francesca’s expectations.

In a short time Toto Forray, Diego Flaccadori and Andrea Mezzanotte, players of Aquila Basket, former “Trentino” players such as Davide Pascolo, Peppe Poeta and Puerto Rican Gary Browne, but also the national champions took part. Stefano Tonut (father’s idol), Gigi Datome and Nicolò Melli.

The latter invited mother and son to go and see his Olimpia Milano match.

“I was extremely surprised – explains mother Francesca – by their availability, despite all their sporting commitments, and by how quickly they responded to my messages.

It is superfluous to tell the happiness of my son to listen to the messages of his idols, even in days like these that do not stop being sad.

The basketball champions did not just wish their good wishes, but they made us feel all the closeness to our family with words of encouragement, telling us to hold on. I found a great humanity in all of them, I thank them one by one. Basketball is also this “.

Nicola Akele, a player who was born and plays in Treviso, where Francesca is from, also played his part sending the family a picture with his autograph.

«We join – wrote Val di Fiemme Basket on its Facebook page – to the wishes of these champions of humanity, happy with what basketball and people’s energy can do. Best wishes and a big hug to all your family, dad is smiling ».
