The skyrocketing of the Indonesian national team in the FIFA rankings cannot be separated from its work in the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification playoffs earlier this month.
On 7 and 11 October, the Indonesian national team twice faced the Taiwan national team in the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification playoff.
Both matches were held at Chang Arena, Buriram, Thailand.
In the first leg, the Indonesian national team took the lead through goals from Ramai Rumakiek in the 18th minute and Evan Dimas in the 51st minute.

However, before the match ended, the Taiwan national team scored a goal through Heng-pin Hsu in the 90+1 minute so the match ended with a score of 2-1.

The three winning goals for the Indonesian national team were created by Egy Maulana Vikri (27′), Ricky Kambuaya (55′), and Witan Sulaeman (90+3′).
