Foreign footballDick Advocaat no longer has to rely on the services of international Justin Meram. The Iraqi midfielder is angry with the 74-year-old coach, who according to Meram shows far too little.
Meram has immediately put an end to his career, he tells the Iraqi news channel UTV. “I have never experienced this. This national coach himself is never in Iraq to watch players. Instead, he sends his assistants,” said the attacker, who questions the appointment of Lawyer. “Wasn’t he chosen just because of his name?”
For the previous international break, Advocaat sent assistant Zeljko Petrovic to scout. The 32-year-old player of the American Salt Lake does not feel appreciated by the national coach. “He doesn’t even talk to me, so disrespectful. You should talk to your players about tactics and philosophy. I have not heard anything about my role or responsibilities within the team in the previous international break.”

The left winger played 35 caps for the Iraq national team. He was accurate four times. He is on two goals in Major League Soccer this season. The Iraqi team will have to resume the hunt for a World Cup ticket without Meram, who was not called up during the previous international break. Iraq is in fifth place after four rounds. The deficit in third place, which entitles them to participation in the play-offs, is two points.
Advocaat was also national coach of the Red Devils between 2009 and 2010.
