FIBA adjusted its power ranking (predictions) for the women’s Euroleague after 3 days, and, surprise, Basket Landes gained 8 places and found itself in 5th position after the big names Ekaterinburg, Sopron, Salamanca and Prague. Lattes-Montpellier is ranked 8th.
About Basket Landes, FIBA writes:
“Maybe we are overreacting with this huge progression, but has there ever been such a dramatic turn in fortunes? Trampled by 40 points at Schio, Basket Landes reacted with style to win at Fenerbahce Safiport, then pull off a relentless triumph against Dynamo Kursk, previously undefeated. And, aren’t we all happy that Céline Dumerc has postponed her retirement? You speak of a swan song! Rookie Marianna Tolo’s experience was fundamental, while Kendra Chery improved. The good news is that Basket Landes has a 2-1 record and hasn’t even shot well, under 40%. ”

“The two wins at the start of the season – at home against ZVVZ USK Prague and on the road at KSC Szekszard – gave the French side a great springboard – even after a predictable home loss to UMMC (Ekaterinburg). The positives, aside from the 2-1 record itself, is that they did so without the absent Ana Dabovic. They shot well at long distance and benefited from Olivia Epoupa’s hot form. The point guard has been superb and if she continues in that vein then BLMA has a great chance for a positive season. The question is simply whether they have enough depth and quality inside. ”
