PHILADELPHIA – Tom Brady threw two touchdowns, Leonard Fournette had two running majors and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the Philadelphia Eagles 28-22 on Thursday night.

The Buccaneers (5-1), defending Super Bowl champions, lost another cornerback when Richard Sherman injured his hamstring in the first quarter. The defense held up, however, as the Eagles tried to erase a 21-point deficit.

Playing even though he had a thumb injury, Brady got off to a good start. The 44-year-old veteran threw a touchdown pass in the Buccaneers’ first two offensive streaks, completing 11 of his 12 aerial attempts for gains of 121 yards.

His best game came with 3:05 remaining in the fourth quarter, after the Eagles had a two-point convert to close the lead to six points.

Facing a third down and seven yards to go, at the Eagles’ 45 line, Brady escaped the pressure and threw a perfect 27-yard pass to Antonio Brown. The Eagles have passed the last minutes of the game.

Brady completed 34 of his 42 passes for 297 yards and was the victim of an interception.

The Eagles (2-4) have lost all three of their home games this season, under rookie head coach Nick Sirianni.

Brady threw a two-yard touchdown pass to OJ Howard to give the Buccaneers a 7-0 lead. The Eagles responded when Hurts joined Zach Ertz for a five-yard major.

Brady then joined forces with Brown for a 23-yard touchdown. The Buccaneers extended their lead thanks to Fournette’s two majors, bringing the score to 28-7 in the third quarter.

Hurts had 12 of his 26 passes for 155 yards. He threw a touchdown pass and an interception. The Eagles quarterback also had 44 rushing yards and two majors.
