Martínez advances against Pella at ATP Moscow

The Valencian is already in the next round of the Russian tournament. Martínez played a good first set, against an opponent who had discomfort. They only played one set and after that the Argentine decided to retire. The bad news continues for a Pella whose fortune is not smiling in 2021. Martinez’s next rival will be Serbian Filip Krajinovic.

Pedro Martinez and Guido Pella they faced each other in the first round of ATP Moscow. A duel between two players who do not have their favorite surface indoors, but who have improved in recent years. They had both won one game at Indian Wells and lost the next. The Argentine gave in to Bautista and the Spanish in front of Tsitsipas. In the face to face they had once faced the Milan 2017 and the victory was taken by the southpaw on the fast track.

Pedro passes without wear

Martinez started somewhat hesitantly and already had to save a break ball in the first turn on duty. He did it to get ahead and try to open a gap on the scoreboard. Pella also did not start anything inspired with his serve and quickly saw how the Valencian broke him and went 2-0. The good news for the Argentine came as he responded quickly with a counterbreak to put the tables back after confirming the break with 22. From that moment on Martínez became owner and lord of the party at the back of the track with a rocky tennis that ended up despairing of a Pella who was not at all comfortable. The first round ended with a clear 6-2 for Spanish that he was already closer to advancing to the next round in the Kremlin Cup.

The game had no more history and is that Pella ended up retiring due to physical discomfort. When the Argentine, after bad luck with his start to the campaign, seemed to recover little by little the sensations, again some kind of counter time came to stop him. Year to forget this 2021 of the southpaw that he will try to return to his best version next season.
