On 23 and 24 October the Italian Cadet Judo Championships were held in Rome and, at the same time, the Italian Cup of bench press was held in Corigliano. In judo the only Calabrian medal came with Klaudia Cannataro, Kodokan card holder, who won the black belt with a prestigious bronze medal, with 4 matches played (3 won in the first minute).
The Rendese athlete of only 16 years in 2021 also finished third in the momentum test of the Italian Under-17 Olympic Weightlifting Championships.
While in the bench press competition, held in Corigliano-Rossano, Kodokan participated with 14 athletes, all or almost all of them made it to the podium. In the national ranking the following were highlighted:
- Damian Cannataro cat 49 kg under 20, silver medal;
- Rita Morrone cat 86 kg under 20, bronze medal;
- Mattia Sturino cat 49 kg under 20, placed in 4th place;
- Giuseppe Tuoto cat 59 kg under 20, placed in 6th place;
- Patrizia Parise cat 55 kg over 20, positioned in 6th place (with 66 kg raised);
The sporting season is not over yet, as next week, in Verona at the national finals for beginners 13 and under 15 Fipe, the Bruzia Society will participate with 3 qualified athletes, the only ones to represent the province of Cosenza:
- Martina Rita Mangiarano, cat. 49 kg F, qualified for both beginners 13 and under 15;
- Damian Cannataro, cat 49 kg M;
- Francesca Nera Carpino, cat. 55 kg F.
Furthermore, at the Fipe Absolute Italian Championships, the highest expression of national sport, Kodokan qualified the athlete Ivan Prisco, cat. 96 kg, which is in first position with a total of 295 kg raised.
