Football in England – An improbable goal and a penalty that ends in the head

Posted

In appalling conditions, the Plymouth Argyle team concluded their victory over Bolton with a goal out of nowhere.

In torrential rain, Plymouth Argyle FC beat Bolton 3-0 in the League One championship, and the third goal action alone was worth the trip. Taking advantage of a completely messed up exit by the Bolton goalkeeper, no less than three Plymouth players find themselves alone facing the empty goal.

Despite this, between falls and slowing down of the ball due to the soggy ground, it took no less than three attempts for the attackers to score, thanks to a skylight at close range from Ryan Broom, who offered himself a slip of a few meters by way of of celebration.

The worst penalty of the year?

Plymouth aren’t the only team to have taken to the web in England this week. The FA Cup meeting between Yeovil Town and Weymouth (both in 5th division) offered a delicious moment that amateur football loves. During the penalty shoot-out (1-1 after regulation time), a player from Plymouth found… the head of a steward placed next to the goal. Despite this, Yeovil ultimately qualified.
