Australian Open> Woodbridge puts pressure on Djokovic on the vaccine: “With so many stakes for him, one can think that he will seriously think about it”

What if the vaccination against Covid-19 were to interfere in the GOAT debate.

Following recent announcements by the Prime Minister of the State of Victoria about the vaccination of athletes wishing to enter Australia, the question is now on everyone’s lips: will Novak Djokovic be vaccinated knowing that he is still pronounced against an obligation?

Asked by Wide World of Sports, Australian doubles legend Todd Woodbridge is hoping the world number 1 will change his mind.

” It’s difficult. He obviously had COVID-19 (in June 2020, during the Adria Tour, Editor’s note) and he probably thinks he still has some form of immunity. The reality is that the rest of the world is doing what we are doing (vaccination). I think at some point you can probably hope he’s going to have to get the vaccine. It will no longer be the responsibility of Tennis Australia, but of the government which will decide what you need to do to enter the country. If he wants to come and play at the Australian Open, it is likely that he will have to get vaccinated. Personally, I think this is a good thing. But players have been told for a while that this is the most likely scenario if you want to come to Australia. With so many at stake for Novak, one can think that he will seriously think about it. He is tied with Roger and Rafa on the number of Grand Slam titles and he wants to widen the gap. Coming to a tournament he has won so much, one can think that he is seriously thinking about vaccination. It would be a shock to me if he didn’t come to Australia. “
