Tennis star Andy Murray has his tennis shoes stolen in a dubious way. But the much bigger problem: He had previously tied his wedding ring to his shoes.

Desperate Murray launched a call on Instagram asking his followers for help. In a post he explains his predicament to his followers in two videos. The Scot is currently in Wells, California, India, where he is training and preparing for the Masters tournament there.

The shoes had to stay outside – and disappear

On the drive to the hotel, Murray had already noticed that the sports shoes smelled unpleasant. After training in Indian Wells, which is almost 40 degrees Celsius, they were “quite damp, sweaty and smelly”. That’s why he decided not to take the shoes into the hotel room and instead ventilate them outside, says the tennis star in the video.

Because the room didn’t have a balcony, Murray was forced to put the shoes under his car to air. The next morning, however, the two-time Olympic champion had to find out that his shoes had disappeared – but the real catastrophe would only come later for him.

Physiotherapist asks him: “Where is your wedding ring”

In order to be able to train again the following day, Murray first simply buys a new pair of kicks in a sports shop. They are from a different brand, but that is “not the end of the world,” said the 34-year-old. As he prepares for the training, his physiotherapist is puzzled and asks: “Where’s your wedding ring?” Only then does Murray remember.

What bad luck: the wedding ring was still knotted with the shoes

So that the ring does not bother him during training, he always knots it with his shoes, says the professional in his video on Instagram. With the shoes, the ring has now also been lost. That should not have gone down well with his wife Kim, with whom Murray has been married since 2015. “Needless to say, I am not a good place to talk to at home,” says Murray, taking it with humor. A fan comments: “I don’t want to be in your shoes, Andy!” Murray is now using his reach and asks his followers on Instagram to share the video. He hopes to find the ring again after all.
