MADRID, 13 (EUROPA PRESS)

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic continues to lead the ATP world rankings comfortably despite his defeat in the US Open final, while Rafa Nadal has fallen to sixth place and Carlos Alcaraz has seen a 17-place rise after his great performance in New York .

The two finalists at Flushing Meadows are still at the top of the rankings, but Daniil Medvedev, the new champion of the American ‘big’, has cut his disadvantage and now they separate him 1,353 points from the world number one.

Without changes in the first four positions, in the fifth Russian Andrey Rublev has overtaken Nadal, who did not play the US Open and has only played two games since June, when he reached the semifinals at Roland Garros.

For his part, Carlos Alcaraz, a record quarter-finalist in New York, enters the ‘Top 40’ for the first time in his career to reach the thirty-eighth position. The Murcian is already the fourth best Spaniard in the world behind Nadal, Pablo Carreño (16) and Roberto Bautista (18).
