He totaled 19 medals in the VII Badminton Open, a national circuit tournament
Badminton, a racquet sport played with a shuttlecock (feather), is growing in Arequipa and this was evident in the VII Open level I held this weekend (Friday to Sunday) at the Independencia Americana school coliseum . The Mistianos collected 19 medals (2 gold, 6 silver and 11 bronze) in the 2024 National Circuit championship promoted by the Peruvian Badminton Sports Federation.
Arequipa, headed by the teacher and regional badminton coordinator, Baltazar Manuel Vargas Oblitas, competed with a delegation of 34 young members. An average of 130 badminton players participated, including those from Tingo María, Lima, Tacna, Ayacucho and Bolivia (three selected) in the singles (ladies/men), doubles (ladies/men) and mixed doubles modalities.
The event, a qualifier for the Pan American Games in Mexico (July), involved the Under-9, Under-11, Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, Under-19 and free categories.
