Sunday 19th September it will be a great day of sport for the Italians. In 18 cities, from north to south, the first edition of the SportCity Day, event promoted by the Sport City Foundation, the independent laboratory of ideas and projects born from the need to study the impact of sport and physical activity on the well-being of urban areas and on the quality of life of citizens.
SportCity Day will involve thousands of citizens of Bari, Bitonto, Cagliari, Castelbuono di Sicilia, Catania, Cuneo, Florence, Grugliasco, Imola, Lucca, Milan, Palermo, Prato, Reggio Calabria, Rome, San Felice Circeo, Turin and Venice, in a day entirely dedicated to the practice of sports using urban spaces and green areas, therefore with zero impact. The cities will also host spaces dedicated to ActionAid, with its “Squadra del Cambiamento” project. In all cities, thanks to the collaboration of local sports associations, free activities are provided throughout the day.
In Bitonto, in the municipal villa, there is space for football, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics, skating, karate, athletics and rugby.
In Rome, at Villa Pamphili, space for Nordic walking, walk music, fitness, touch rugby, minivolley, five-a-side football and field hockey. The same day full of sports will take place in San Felice Circeo, in the province of Latina.
In Venice, the event will take place in the Sant’Elena Pinewood of the Parco delle Rimembranze and citizens will be able to play sports both on land and at sea, during a day entirely dedicated to outdoor sports.
In Cuneo there is an event that will involve the whole city with sports thanks to CuneoViveLoSport, a fixed September appointment. In Turin and in the province, SportCity Day will take place as part of “Just The Woman I Am”, an event of sport, culture, well-being and sociality in support of university cancer research, organized by the Turin university system. Sports can be practiced in the CUS facilities in Turin, at the Porporati Park in Grugliasco and at the Outlet Village Torino in Settimo Milanese.
In Catania, appointment in Piazza Università with cycling, badminton, Nordic walking and volleyball, with the presence of the new women’s roster of Volleyball Sicily Catania.
