With a score of 2-6, 6-1, 6-7 (5: 7), Barthy gave up US tennis player Shelby Rogers, who is in 43rd place in the WTA rank.

Bārtija served in the third set with the result 5-2 and 5-4, winning the match, but both games were ripe and did not use their chance to win.

The two tennis players fought against each other for the fifth time of the season, but in the previous four fights, as in the mutual match that took place in 2017, Barthy was superior.

“You know what’s interesting. This morning I watched a video with former tennis player Vita Gerulaitis, who said that no one had managed to win her 17 times in a row. This was only the sixth fight between us,” Rogers joked after the victory.

In the fourth round, Rogers is waiting for a meeting with British tennis player Emma Radukan (WA 150), who started the US Open from the qualification.

The next round was also reached by the 2019 champion Bianka Andrescu, who beat the Canadian woman in the seventh place with the result 6-1, 6-2, the Belgian Gretji Minnen (WTA 104), who was the lucky loser in the main tournament.

Andres won the US Open in all ten main event games. Last year, a Canadian did not play in New York due to a knee injury.

“I hope that in this spirit I will continue and reach the balance of 14-0 at the US Open this year. That is my goal,” Andresco said.

In the fourth round, the Canadian will have a fight with the Greek Maria Sakari (WTA 18th), who with 6-4. 6-3 took the lead over two-time Wimbledon champion Peter Kvitov from the Czech Republic (WTA 11th).

Meanwhile, Tokyo Olympic champion Belinda Benchic from Switzerland (WTA 12) defeated Jessica Pegula (WTA 23rd) 6-2, 6-4. The semi-finalist of 2019, Benčiča, will continue to compete with the eighth-ranked Polite Iga Švjontek, who defeated the first Baltic racket Aneti Kontaveitu from Estonia (WTA 28th) with 6-3, 4-6, 6-3.

Karolinina Plīškova, a Czech with a fourth number, was superior to Australian tennis player Ajla Tomļanovič (WTA 46) with 6-3, 6-2.

The US Open, the last Grand Slam of the season, will run until September 12.
