Even Genk fans don’t believe their eyes after suspension for Union | Football24

When Bongonda wanted to go for goal, he was stopped by Union defender Bager. Ref Lambrechts let it be at first, but after the intervention of the VAR he looked at the images and, against the expectations, he still put the ball on the spot. In addition, Bager also got the red card.

Many disagreed. Not with the penalty and even less with the exclusion of Bager. But now the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office is still claiming a one-week suspension, albeit with a delay, and on top of that, another 500 euros fine. Nobody understands anything about that, not even in Genk.

Toen Bongonda op doel wilde afgaan werd hij gestuit door Union-verdediger Bager. Ref Lambrechts liet eerst begaan, maar na tussenkomst van de VAR bekeek hij de beelden en legde hij de bal tegen de verwachtingen in toch op de stip. Bovendien kreeg Bager ook nog eens de rode kaart.

Daar waren velen het niet mee eens. Niet met de penalty en nog minder met de uitsluiting van Bager. Maar nu vordert het Bondsparket toch één week schorsing, zij het met uitstel, en daarbovenop nog eens 500 euro boete. Niemand die daar ook maar iets van snapt, ook in Genk niet.
