City star thought he had VIP status in prison – football

Benjamin Mendy involuntarily traded his luxury property for a prison cell. The soccer star does not get any VIP treatment.

The excitement in English football is great. Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy was arrested last weekend. He has been charged with rape on several counts. It is the presumption of innocence.

Fix: The Frenchman had to swap his villa (worth 5.8 million euros) for a cramped prison cell, at least temporarily. He was denied bail. The 2018 world champion is in a prison in Liverpool.

Mendy’s “rude awakening”

The next shock followed for him after the briefing. As the “Sun” reports, the kicker must have initially misunderstood the officers when they said to him: “For your own safety, you come to the VP wing.”

What he took for the VIP area because of the language barrier turned out to be the wing in which sex offenders serve their sentences. The background: You are separated from other prisoners because sex offenders are treated particularly badly by fellow inmates.

Sources of the English newspaper reportedly reveal: “It was a rude awakening to realize who he was going to hang out with here. He was not happy, a sobering experience for him.”

Mendy is said to have attacked three different women in the past ten months. One of them is a minor. The multi-million dollar footballer has not yet commented on the allegations. He will appear in an English court on September 10th.

City bought Mendy in 2017 for 60 million euros from AS Monaco.
