New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick assured Monday that COVID-19 does not play a role in his personnel management decisions.
When the “Pats” released quarterback Cam Newton, the pilot claimed that a “large number” of players vaccinated against the coronavirus had been affected and that to say that the vaccine “solved all the problems” was false.
Belichick’s comments caused some controversy and he wanted to clarify them.
“No player has been released or detained because of his vaccination status,” he told the NFL Network. My comment on vaccines simply argues that these are personal decisions. As a team, we would be in a better position if everyone were vaccinated, but even if they were, it wouldn’t solve all of our problems. As we have seen, several players, head coaches and assistants across the league have been infected with COVID even after having been vaccinated. ”
The issues related to the current pandemic are still present and the protocols for reducing the risk of contamination in the world of sport are very strict. Also, Belichick said he always does.
“It is always our responsibility to remain vigilant in our daily hygiene and in making decisions regarding our personal health and safety, as well as that of the team. We will continue to follow league protocol, but that has no influence on our released players. ”
The Patriots’ first meeting of the season is scheduled for Sunday against the Miami Dolphins.
