When deployed in Berlin-Wedding: Police officers find skull bones – but do not assume any crime – Berlin

On Wednesday night, officials in Berlin-Wedding found a skull bone – according to the first appearance, it is human remains. According to Tagesspiegel information, the skull was in a cellar of a restaurant. It should not have been explicitly hidden, and apparently had been there for a long time.

A spokeswoman for the Berlin police confirmed the find: It was “probably human bones” that would now be “examined by forensic medicine”, then one would know specifics. The police do not assume a homicide, currently there is no suspicion of a crime. Nevertheless, it must be determined where the skull came from and how long it had been there.

The skull was found and confiscated during a nightlife inspection. The officers from the police, customs and district office were looking for uncleared shisha tobacco, evidence of illegal work and drug trafficking. In fact, they were successful in the Weddinger pubs: several kilograms of untaxed shisha tobacco and illegal slot machines were confiscated.

The operation on Wednesday night took place under the direction of the “Joint Cigarette Investigation Group” of the State Criminal Police Office. The unit is trying to stem the “glut of uncleared, contaminated shisha tobacco,” an official said. Smuggling luxury goods and drugs, including tax evasion, are important sources of income for gang and clan crime.

The shisha bar mentioned at the beginning is not known in this regard. The operators had shown themselves to be extensively cooperative, said an expert, the official inspection had gone as a civil servant could wish.

Human bones are rarely found, every now and then during construction work. Such a skull could also come from a medical collection.
