The Tokyo Paralympics are open. Around 4,400 athletes from 160 nations are fighting for medals again. Also there: the German team, which took sixth place in the nations ranking five years ago in Rio de Janeiro. The German Disabled Sports Association (DBS) sends 133 athletes to this project. Like the Olympic Games, the Paralympics take place under strict corona conditions without spectators. When the athletes marched into the stadium, the five-time Paralympic cycling winner Michael Teuber and wheelchair basketball player Mareike Miller led the German team into the stadium.
