Timberwolves Stun Nuggets in Game 7 Victory

The Timberwolves eliminated the Nuggets, the reigning NBA champions, in the Western Conference semifinals in Denver, after a 98-90 victory in Game 7 of the series, and will meet Dallas in the conference final.

After a crushing victory in game #6 (115-70), the “Wolves” mounted an impressive comeback, overcoming the largest halftime point deficit of game #7 in NBA history, with the Nuggets ahead by 15 points. The Timberwolves trailed by as many as 20 points early in the third quarter, but were able to get back into rhythm and cut the deficit to one point before the final quarter.

Six players from the Minneapolis franchise scored at least 10 points and Karl-Anthony Towns was the top scorer with 23 points and 11 rebounds. Jaden McDaniels added 21 points, and the regular season’s best defender, Rudy Gobert, scored 13 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. For Denver, regular season MVP Nikola Jokic gave it his all with a commanding double-double of 34 points and 19 rebounds, while leader Jamal Murray brought the Nuggets 35 points. But it wasn’t enough against Minnesota, which returns to the conference finals for the first time since 2004.
