Deputy Harry Jürgensen, parliamentarian for the Los Lagos Region, sent the request to the Ministries of Health and Sports, as well as the mayor of Puerto Varas, considering that the event has a great impact for the region and the country: “A simile to the realization of the Copa Libertadores de Fútbol in our country, keeping the proportions ”.
By means of an official letter- to the Minister of Health, Dr. Enrique Paris; The Minister of Sports Cecilia Pérez and the Mayor of the Municipality of Puerto Varas, Tomás Gárate, are requested to swiftly approve the protocols that guarantee the implementation of the South American Basketball League in the city of Puerto Varas with the presence of the public.
The legislator pointed out that basketball is a massive and convoking sport in the southern regions of the country: “Indeed, due to its adjustment with the climatic reality of this area, since it is practiced in closed gyms, it attracts many adherents, practitioners and , particularly in the Lake District, people live with special zeal in cities such as Puerto Montt, Ancud, Castro, Osorno and also Puerto Varas ”.
Finally, the parliamentarian called on the authorities to implement in advance the health protocols and respective authorizations so that the activity can be carried out with the presence of the public.
