Football – Olympique de Marseille have made a stunning debut

Unbeaten during the preparation, Marseille maintained its good momentum with a success which bears the mark of the “grinta” desired by its Argentinian coach Jorge Sampaoli. Despite two Montpellier goals in quick succession (31st, 35th), including a missile from Gaëtan Laborde, OM continued to play forward. It paid off.

Dimitri Payet rewarded his good intentions with an express double (75th, 80th), on a free kick, then following a raid in the area. Previously, rookie Cengiz Under (68th, 1-2) had reduced the score.

But the match was disrupted by several throwing projectiles on the lawn which caused it to be interrupted for about ten minutes. These incidents expose the club to sanctions from the League (LFP).
