Albacete welcomes these days the concentration of the U19 Women’s Basketball Selection, prior to the World Cup to be held in August in Hungary, a national team to which the mayor of Albacete, Emilio Sáez, has welcomed this morning to the city, and He has shown his “satisfaction” because he has chosen “our capital to prepare for this important sporting event, we hope that your visit here will give you luck”.
Emilio Sáez has received the national team, of which Mario López is the coach, in the central promenade of the Abelardo Sánchez Park, where the family photograph has been taken, with the presence of the entire technical team; the president of the Castilla-La Mancha Basketball Federation, José Esteban Gálvez Moraleda; the vice mayor, Vicente Casañ; the Councilor for Sports, Modesto Belinchón; Francisco Navarro, councilor for the PP, and Carmen Fajardo, from United We Can.
The mayor, in his greeting to those present, has indicated that “for a few days you are going to live among us, a different summer and for this City Council it is a satisfaction that a whole National Team is preparing in our city, that it trains in our Pabellón del Parque, that you stay in one of our hotels, that you stroll through our streets and squares, and we hope you are not an exception and we hope you leave with a good taste in your mouth and speak well of us and of us ”.
“Remember this city, in which, surely, in not long time you will be able to play a tournament or first-line championship when we have our Albacete Arena, our multipurpose pavilion with capacity for 6,000 people ”, the mayor of Albacete pointed out in his speech, underlining that“ we want to be a benchmark, also in competitive sports ”.
It should be noted that the Spanish U19 Women’s Team began its concentration in Albacete last Friday, the 16th, and will remain in the city until July 28, carrying out its training sessions in the Park Pavilion and the entire expedition being hosted at the Hotel The plains.
Preparation
During those 12 days the national team will prepare in the first instance the Friendly Tournament that will be held on July 30 and 31 and August 1, presumably in Guadalajara. The quadrangular tournament will include the participation of the Spanish National Team, the national teams of the United States, Argentina and Mali.
