National: the Red Star in full swing, Versailles looking to the future

Devoid of any issues, the last day of National will allow Red Star (1st) to celebrate their title while at Versailles, where a big renewal is expected next season, many players will play their last match.

At Red Star, festive moment and rumble of supporters

It should still be a party at Bauer Stadium. However, in recent weeks, it is as if the euphoria of the rise to L2 acquired on April 19 had evaporated due to a decompression on the field (4 defeats in a row), the announcement of the departure of Habib Beye and especially the concerns of the shareholder 777 Partners who must face 16 complaints. Very recovered since the sale two years ago, the Rino Della Negra stand is organizing a protest procession which will leave at 3 p.m. from the Saint-Ouen town hall and should also demonstrate its hostility to 777 during the match.

It is not the management press release published Monday which affirmed that “777 Football Group has not only fulfilled all its obligations towards Red Star, but also regularly exchanges with the club on the budgetary construction of the 2024-2025 season in anticipation of his appearance in front of the DNCG” which appeased their anger.

Internally, however, we always remain calm at the management of Red Star. After having extended a few players (Hachem, Cissé, etc.), the first task will be to find a successor to Beye. There is no short list yet but around ten profiles are being studied.

In the meantime, this last match against Épinal will be closed by the presentation of the National Champion Trophy. Tribute will also be paid to Cheikh Ndoye, 38, who will play his 128th and final match with Red Star.

At Versailles, Vasseur extended, Nadje very courted

On the Versailles side, we are already looking towards next season. Jean-Luc Vasseur’s option in the event of retention, a mission that he successfully completed, was logically activated by management. The coach is now under contract until June 2025. “This last match should allow us to start preparing for the future,” he explains. It’s the end of a human adventure, a season very rich in episodes both pleasant and painful, from which everyone must draw the consequences. There, we are in the audit and projection. »

Vasseur has already met 2/3 of his group and will continue his individual interviews at the start of next week. Versailles is preparing to start almost from scratch. Twenty-two players are reaching the end of their contracts. Among them, some received disproportionate sums for the level, a legacy of the madness of the summer of 2022, and will not be renewed, especially at these prices… Versailles should build around a few players still under contract (Basque, Karamoko, Mendes, Plum tree, Baaloudj…).

Among the departures, Jeremain Lens ends his career, Melih Altikulac leaves for Samsunspor (Turkey) who had loaned him. Kevin Nadje, still under contract, should liven up the market. Sports director Salomon Kashala and management will sell him. Author of 7 goals and revelation of this season, the 22-year-old midfielder is followed by numerous foreign clubs: Verona, Monza (Italian Serie A), Schalke 04 (German D2), Charleroi (Belgium D1), Farense, Casa Pia ( D1 Portugal), or Go Ahead Eagles (Netherlands).
