The scientist photographed a real Spongebob on the seabed

The photo was shared on his Twitter by scientist Christopher Mah. “I usually avoid these comparisons … But wow, the real Spongebob and Patrick!” Wrote a member of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

The pair of sea creatures were spotted by a remote-controlled underwater vehicle at a depth of 1885 meters near a place called Retriever seamount, located about 300 kilometers east of New York.

According to Mah, it is a sea sponge with the scientific name hertwigia and a starfish called a chondraster.

“I thought it would be fun to mention this comparison. This time it’s really comparable to iconic characters, “he told Business Insider Mah.

The animated series called Spongebob in Pants (originally SpongeBob SquarePants) was based on the theme of the American biologist and animator Stephen Hillenburg. It began broadcasting in 1999 and over time became popular almost all over the world.
