Kevin Love decided not to participate in the Olympics

Cleveland Cavaliers insider Kevin Love will not play for the United States at the Tokyo Olympics due to sore right calf.

“I am incredibly disappointed not to go to Tokyo with the team but you need to be at peak performance to compete at the Olympic level, and I am not there yet,” Love said in a statement.

Love’s departure joins that of Bradley Beal who was forced to withdraw after entering COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

The 13-year NBA veteran is coming off a poor 2020-21 season. Love averaged 12.2 points, the lowest production since his rookie year, and 7.4 rebounds, the worst of his career, in just 25 appearances, due to a persistent calf injury.
