Badminton Denmark and TV 2 SPORT nominate the Badminton Player of the Year 2020 at RSL DM in Esbjerg on 10-13. August. For that, we need your help as you can vote on who you think should win the award of the three candidates. See here how you vote and participate in the draw for two tickets to the finals at RSL DM.
2020 was not exactly the badminton year we could have hoped for, as several tournaments were canceled due to Covid-19.
But when the game was played, several Danish players managed to perform at the highest level on the international badminton scene. Therefore, there have been special results to nominate and choose from for Badminton Denmark’s sports management for the award as Badminton Player of the Year 2020.
The three nominees are:
- Sara Thygesen / Maiken Fruergaard: Second place at the World Tour Super 500 tournament Indonesia Masters and winner of RSL DM 2020.
- Anders Antonsen: Winner of the World Tour Super 750 tournament DANISA DENMARK OPEN presented by VICTOR and reached an All England semi-final. Second place at the World Tour Super 500 tournament Indonesia Masters.
- Viktor Axelsen: Winner of the World Tour Super 1000 tournament All England, the World Tour Super 300 tournament Spain Masters and RSL DM 2020. Second place at the World Tour Super 500 tournament Malaysia Masters.
Voting ends August 2, 2021
The following votes form the basis for the selection of the Badminton Player of the Year:
- a vote for everyone via www.badminton.dk and sport.tv2.dk (most votes – one vote)
- a vote among the players in Badminton Denmark’s player groups (most votes – one vote)
- a vote among badminton-savvy journalists (most votes – one vote)
- a recommendation from Team Denmark (one vote)
- a setting from DIF (one voice)
- a recommendation from the head coach (one vote)
- a setting from TV 2 SPORT (one vote)
