The judoka Moussa Macalou reaches the bronze medal in the Junior Spanish Championship

The young man Moussa Macalou has obtained the bronze in the category of -73 kg of the Spanish Junior Judo Championship. This competition took place last weekend in Valencia. The representative of the Binéfar Judo Club he has had to compete against five rivals from different autonomous communities until he has finally achieved success.

As to results, Macalou started beating the Valencian Marco Antonio Maneus at the start of the competition. During the later phase he had to deal with the Basque Hodei Harina, who he also surpassed. In the quarterfinals he ran into Juan Pena and came out triumphant again. Finally, he reached the semifinals, where he crossed paths with Javier Pena, who would end up being the champion of the category. Despite the efforts of the Alto Aragonese judoka, the victory ended up favoring the Madrilenian.

However, the one in Barbastro had a second chance to redeem himself when playing a final phase. On this occasion, he had to face Sergio Roldán and won, once again, the victory. At the same time, this painting had another fight in which Darío Pérez Barrios from Madrid won. So that, both judokas have ended up sharing the third position in their category.

The reward of great effort

After the event, Macalou said he looked “very good” and “with a good feeling”. On the other hand, he has commented that he felt that “He could proclaim himself Champion of Spain, but it could not be after the defeat against Javier Pena from Madrid ”. In the same way, it highlights that he has known how to lift his head, avoiding giving everything up for lost and fighting until the end for the bronze medal.

In addition, he mentions that he has lived the competition “with great enthusiasm and enthusiasm”, since “I had been trying for a few years and I was trying really hard to get that medal ”. Consequently, it considers that it supposes “The reward of a great effort and of the people who have been with me at all times, especially my coach Antonio Clager”. Finally, he adds that it has been difficult to stay motivated during the last year, given that the pandemic has made things difficult when it comes to practicing contact sports.
