Steelers: Big Ben is wound up like a clock | Touchdown Actu (NFL Actu)

In his first public speech since the loss in the playoffs against the Browns (48-37), Ben Roethlisberger addressed several key points of his offseason on Tuesday. First, he explained that the pay cut agreed to with the franchise to return this season was his idea.

“It was my idea,” Roethlisberger told reporters. “I told them I wanted to help the team in any way I went to them to tell them that I will do whatever it takes to help the team sign the players who will help us win matches ”he added.

The 39-year-old quarterback also wanted to de-dramatize the team’s ability to terminate the contract after the season. He probably doesn’t know Corneille, but he comes from afar.

“I’m going to take this season as I approach all seasons – like it’s the last (…) I think that’s the approach you have to have, not because it could be the last, but because that every action in football can be the last. Every match can be the last. It just means that I will give everything I have ”explained the man with the two rings.

Giving all he has can mean little or nothing. Roethlisberger, however, wanted to be reassuring about his state of form. In particular, he said his worries last year on long balls were due to the total rebuilding his elbow suffered in the offseason and that he now felt much more comfortable playing an entire season with his longtime team.

“I’m bleeding black and gold!” This is where I want to be. I don’t want to be anywhere else, ”he concluded.
