“We need at least two or three players”: Amaranto Perea

P.

What is your opinion of the elimination of all Colombian teams in international tournaments?

R.

I’m going to keep my opinion. It seems that in football you cannot give an opinion because the opinion generates not only a debate, that the debate is good, but it goes further, it reaches the insult. Colombian football has to make a change. We have been competing with what I once said (intensity). We have been being intense, we have tried to play football well.

Unfortunately all that good image that we gave in the games was not represented in going to the next phase and many people stay with it. Personally, regardless of whether I am Junior’s coach or not, I do believe that patience is needed to be able to change things because we have been around for a long time and we haven’t been able to. It is a very long transition that Colombian football is experiencing in terms of international tournaments and it is our reality. I’ve been there for three years and after they eliminate us I hear the same opinions, but it turns out that we are doing absolutely nothing, and I include myself.

Teams that have had a good Copa Libertadores or have won international tournaments have been working with a player base for three or four years and, logically, the objectives come from there. Now, the word failure is said more than good morning, and you have to fail many times perhaps to achieve the big things.
