Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen in the round of 16 of the men’s doubles

Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen qualified for the 3rd round (round of 16) of the men’s doubles at the French Open in tennis, second Grand Slam tournament, on Friday on the clay court at Roland-Garros.

The Belgian pair, seeded No. 14, beat the Americans Austin Krajicek and Tennys Sandgren in the second round in straight sets 6-4, 6-1 in 1:01 of play.

Gillé and Vliegen will face for a place in the quarterfinals either the Spaniards Pablo Andujar and Pedro Martinez or the French Arthur Cazaux and Hugo Gaston.

Sander Gillé and Joran Vliegen were eliminated in the 1st round last year during their only participation together at Porte d’Auteuil. Vliegen reached the quarterfinals in 2019 along with Kazakh Mikhail Kukushkin.

This season, the two Belgians were eliminated in the first round of the Australian Open but then won the fifth title of their career in Singapore on February 28.
