Music, sport and circus with “Popular summer”

The week opens on Monday 21 June with singing courses for the little ones. Saturday 26 June traveling concert by the “Banda di Quartiere”

REGGIO EMILIA. Music, theater, circus, storytelling and sports. These are the ingredients of the new week of “Popular Summer”, the program of two hundred open-air events which, from mid-June to mid-September, will animate 20 popular districts of Reggio.

The widespread review, completely free and designed for an audience of all ages, is a proposal by Acer and the Municipality of Reggio Emilia, Department of Housing, with the support of the Territorial Committee of Iren, and sees the collaboration of 27 associations and cultural realities Reggiane.

The week begins with the “Young Musical” courses, in collaboration with the Cinqueminuti association. Three musical workshops for children aged 11 to 16 scheduled every Monday (from 18.30 to 20) at the Parco dei Platani in via Fenulli from 21 June to 26 July, on Tuesdays (from 18.30 to 20) at the Campo di Marte II park from 22 June to 27 July and on Wednesdays (from 18.30 to 20) in the square of the Villaggio Foscato from 23 June to 28 July. At the end of each workshop there is a performative event that will involve the young participants.

Tuesday 22 June (from 11 to 13) at the Accademia di Quartiere in via Paradisi 10 continues “Singers suddenly in summer”, a singing course for children and teenagers with the tenor Mirko Matarazzo. The workshop will end with a final concert open to all (Saturday 28 August, 6.30 pm) at the Paulonie park. The two initiatives dedicated to gaming and sport also continue. On Tuesday 22nd and Thursday 24th June (from 5.30 pm to 6.30 pm) at the Villaggio Stranieri the imperative is “Let’s make a move”, with Heron’s activity dedicated to new sports such as ultimate frisbee, flag football, dodgeball, badminton, street racket.

Wednesday 23 June is the turn of the Tricolore Sport Marathon athletic games, every Wednesday (from 16.30 to 17.30) in the park of the Mirandola social center in Pieve and (from 18 to 19) at the I Platani park in via Fenulli. On the same day, “Summer circus”, a circus arts workshop for parents and children (from 4 years) in collaboration with Compagnia Circolabile, scheduled for 23, 25 and 26 June (from 17.30 to 19) in the Tasso park, also debuts. The meeting place for the participants is in via Cassala 10, in the parking lot next to the schools. A space for play and relationship through circus games and acrobatics: between exercises and games a playful moment of contact is proposed that strengthens trust and facilitates body communication outside of everyday life.

Thursday 24 June (from 5 to 7 pm) new appointment with “Corti al Foscato”, a videomaking workshop to make a short film dedicated to the neighborhood together with Progetto Crescere. For lovers of stories, on Friday (6.30pm-9.30pm, free access in the indicated time slot) at the Il Noce Park in via Fontana, the Flying Hens offer “Fairy tales in headphones”, podcast narrations and read aloud for children aged 4 years.

The week ends on Saturday 26 June (6.30 pm) with the traveling concert of the Banda di Quartiere in collaboration with Arci Reggio Emilia. The protagonists of the evening are a dozen unleashed musicians led by maestro Emanuele Reverberi, multi-instrumentalist and violin from the Giardini di Mirò, engaged in a crackling and engaging concert.
