MADRID, 29 Jun. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Iberia will transfer the Spanish Olympic and Paralympic teams to the Tokyo 2020 Games that are being held this summer and has created the ‘Iberia Team’, made up of 7 Olympians and 4 Paralympians, including weightlifter Lydia Valentín and triathlete Eva Moral, informs in a statement.

“The Olympic Games are the first major world event after the pandemic, the first opportunity for the world to once again participate together in an event. The Games will be the vaccine to recover the illusion and the will to live, and Iberia will participate very actively in this great party “, assured the Corporate Director of Iberia, Juan Cierco.

In this Olympic event, Iberia has also wanted to give visibility to less media sports and for this reason the airline has created the Iberia Team formed by the Olympians Lydia Valentín (weightlifting), Niko Shera (judo), Fátima Gálvez (shooting), Sandra Sánchez ( karate), Teresa Portela (canoeing), María López (hockey), Silvia Mas (sailing), and the Paralympic Loida Zabala (weightlifting), Eva Moral (triathlon), Sarai Gascón and María Delgado (swimming).

Some of these athletes are the protagonists of the latest airline advertisement, which shows how Lydia Valentín herself trained during confinement due to the pandemic, lifting cans of water, or María Delgado, swimming in a plastic paddling pool.

Some of these peculiar ‘sports materials’ will be exhibited in the Dalí VIP Lounge in T4 of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas airport. In addition, the airline last year baptized one of its A350s with the name of ‘Spanish Olympic Team’ in honor of the Spanish athletes who will compete in the Games.

Precisely, it will be this plane that will bring the athletes back from Tokyo, and the one they will carry out on another A350 called as the destination of the Games, Tokyo.
