Saint-Benin-d’Azy. First sessions at the multisports hall. The extension work of the Amognes gymnasium having been completed, the new multisports hall was used for the first time by the Dojo des Amognes, the local judo club.
Finally ! The extension had been awaited for several years by the many users of the gymnasium, to saturation given the high number of associations and clubs wishing to use it.
“There was no longer a slot available, and there was a lack of space to store the equipment”, explains Patrick Gosset, president of the Syndicat intercommunal des transports scolaire (Sits), the leader of this project. “We absolutely had to grow! », He confirms.

A total of 263 additional mats are offered to users: a room reserved for “soft” sports (judo, yoga, etc.), a storage room and a technical room. Enough to allow the practice of two activities at the same time, without stepping on each other’s toes.
The work, entrusted to the architect Pascal Mallard, the same one who had been chosen for the construction of the building, and which had started in October 2019, took longer than expected, due to the health crisis.
The safety committee gave its approval in January 2021. Except that during this period, the use of the rooms was prohibited. It was therefore not until May 19 and the second stage of deconfinement, for the gymnasiums to be reopened, and the practice of the sport of minors with contact authorized.
After a few sessions outdoors, the Dojo des Amognes was able to organize its first class in the new room, to the delight of Daniel Martin, State-certified judo teacher, and Florian Lafarge, the club’s new president. With a special thought for his father Gilles, president of the club who died at the end of 2020, who had largely supported this project.
Cost. € 383,166, nearly half of which comes from subsidies from the State (DETR), the Region and the Department.
