The Jays pull a rabbit out of their hat

The Toronto Blue Jays scored three runs in the ninth inning to come back from behind and beat the Miami Marlins 6-5 on Wednesday in Buffalo.

It was a sacrificial ball from Joe Panik that Starling Marte was unable to capture that resulted in the point of the victory.

A triple from Bo Bichette moments later had created the tie. It is thus a delay of three points, including two in the final round at bat, that the Jays have filled to win.

Rain of circuits

It was also a home run festival that the fans gathered at Sahlen Field were entitled to. Indeed, six long balls were struck in this meeting.

Three of those gunshots were allocated by Alek Manoah, the young gunner of the Jays. Corey Dickerson and Jesus Aguilar went solo there, while Jazz Chisholm Jr. was predeceased by Jose Devers at the plate. Marte ejected the ball out of bounds at the expense of Trent Thornton in the seventh.

For the Jays, Randal Grichuk twice sent the ball into the stands. He has stretched his arms 11 times this season.

More difficult for Manoah

A few days after an excellent first start to his career, Manoah had a lot more difficulty on the mound. The 23-year-old gave the Marlins four runs in the first three innings before allowing them to fill the trails on the next round at bat. Joel Payamps limited the damage, however, by making the last two strikeouts of the engagement.

So, after limiting the New York Yankees to two small hits in six innings on Thursday, Manoah this time conceded four runs, as many hits from safe places and three walks, in addition to hitting an opponent with a bad launch.

Anthony Castro (1-1) signed his first career victory. Yimi Garcia (3-4) has meanwhile suffered the defeat.

The only major Canadian roster in major league baseball will now begin its second series in Buffalo against the Houston Astros on Friday.
