Heidenheim with a sweep against Mainz
The Mainz Athletics did not reward themselves for their race to catch up and ended up narrowly losing 6:5 at Heidenheim Heideköpfe. They also got off to a better start in the game. Already in the first inning, the Heideköpfe were able to score twice after an RBI single from Shawn Larry and an RBI double from Gary Owens.

The latter was still on the mound in the final inning and kept his nerve. Apart from a walk, the guests didn’t manage anything and Janssen finished the game with three strikeouts. Heidenheim’s starting pitcher Jared Mortensen (6 2/3IP, 7H, 1BB, 4R, 3ER, 7K) secured the win. This was also Mortensen’s first win of the season. Mainz starter Scott Bellina suffered the loss. It was a wasted day for the American. He gave up eight hits and four runs in just 3 2/3 innings.
