Emotion in Italy after the suicide of Seid Visin, former hope of AC Milan

AC Milan has been in mourning since June 4. “There are no right words to say goodbye to a 20-year-old young man: our thoughts are with Seid Visin, his family and those who loved him,” wrote the Milan training center on his twitter account. Seid Visin, former AC Milan and Benevento youth footballer, killed himself at the weekend at the age of 20. Born in Ethiopia, he arrived in Italy as a child and was adopted by a couple. Before stopping football to devote himself to his studies, Seid Visin had played in the youth of AC Milan.

There were notably frequented Gianluigi Donnarumma, the goalkeeper of the Milan club and the Italian selection. “I got to know Seid when I arrived in Milan,” the 22-year-old goalkeeper told Italian news agency Ansa. We lived together at the boarding school. Years have passed, but I can’t and I don’t want to forget his incredible smile and his zest for life. “

His death caused great emotion in Italy. In 2019, the young man pointed out the racism of which he was the subject, by writing a post on social networks in which he expressed his discomfort. “A few months ago, I managed to find a job, which I had to leave because too many people, mainly elderly people, refused to be served by me, he said. They also accused me of the fact that many young Italians could not find work. The adoptive parents of the victim, however, wanted to provide details. “Seid’s gesture does not stem from episodes of racism”, they declared to the transalpine press.
