Coahuila Archers Begin Archery World Cup Series in Shanghai, China

The Coahuila archers Ana Paula Vázquez, Ángela Ruiz, Bruno Martínez, Dafne Quintero and Sebastián García, began their participation in the first stage or first round of the Archery World Cup series, which is held in Shanghai, China.

In the qualification round of the women’s recurve bow, Ángela Ruiz placed 41st with 647 points, while Ana Paula Vázquez finished in 47th place with 644. In the men’s category, Bruno Martínez placed 83rd with 650, without being able to make the cut. For her part, in the women’s compound bow, Dafne Quintero ranked thirteenth with 703 points, while Sebastián García finished in 42nd place with 699 points, all with the possibility of continuing to advance and fight for the important places.

By team, in women’s compound bow, Dafne Quintero, together with Andrea Becerra and Esmeralda Sánchez, set a new continental record with 2,116 units; although they were later eliminated in the second round by Italy. In the individual Olympic round, Ángela Ruiz will face Alejandra Valencia in her first match; while Ana Paula Vázquez will clash with Elisa Tartler, from Germany. By team, the Mexican third party, which has representation from Coahuila, will face Poland in the first round.

In men’s teams within the recurve bow, Bruno Martínez Wing, Matías Grande and Carlos Rojas will face their counterpart from Slovenia in the first round. In individual compound bow, Dafne Quintero will face Alexis Ruiz, from the United States, in the first round; while Sebastián García will face Shamai Yamrom, from Israel.

Maya Becerra has already reached the semifinals and is very close to getting on the podium in her category. Now she will face Alexis Ruíz, with her sights set on the dispute for silver and gold.
