The Federation never made public the names of the players who tested positive for COVID-19 after landing in Brazil on June 11, although they assured that they had been tested before flying and, as they stressed, all the members of the delegation gave negative. The captain of the national team, Tomás Rincón, did not board that flight when he had a “viral picture” that, later and after doing new tests, was confirmed as a case of covid-19, although the FVF never reported if it was between the eight positives reported upon arrival in Brasilia.

In the statement published this Wednesday they do not mention Rincón or clarify if any of the eight players is still on the sidelines of the concentration because they still have covid-19. In this way, the coach José Peseiro has 38 players, between the original call and a group of footballers who called emergency to face the Copa América, and continues with his planning.

On the other hand, the FVF also explained that the winger Yeferson Soteldo, of Toronto FC, has recovered from his muscular injury and “will be joining the group of summoned and thus being at the disposal of the national coach.”

After the covid-19 outbreak, Peseiro, whose work has been widely praised in Venezuela, rebuilt the team and, after being defeated 3-0 by Brazil in the opening match, achieved two draws (0-0 with Colombia and 2-2 with Ecuador), thanks to the honor of some substitute players who have also been praised in the country.
