Viktorija Golubic (WTA 72) suffers another bitter defeat at the grass tournament in Eastbourne against Estonian Anna Kontaveit (WTA 27).

The 28-year-old from Zurich lost in the quarter-finals 6: 2, 6: 7 (2: 7), 5: 7. Golubic drew the short straw for the same number of times in the sixth duel against Kontaveit, losing for the fifth time after three sets. After failing to use a match point in the second round at the French Open in Paris at the beginning of June, the Swiss woman won the first set and lost the second in the tie-break. Although Golubic managed to re-break twice in the final set, the loss of service to 5: 6 was one too many.

In total, she gave up her serve six times, including a score of 6: 5 in the second round. Despite the bitter defeat, the Swiss number 3 can be satisfied with the tournament in Eastbourne. In the round of 16, the qualifier surprisingly defeated her compatriot Belinda Bencic (ATP 11/6: 4, 6: 4). In the world rankings, Golubic will move into the top 70.
