Anthony Davis is already working on his offseason | NBA

Anthony Davis gave it his all. Despite the injuries and pain, the inside of the Lakers insisted on being present for Game 6 when they had missed the previous one. Until his body told him to stop, and he was forced to go back to the locker room after holding out for five short minutes.

“I was already in pain coming into the match and when I jumped to counter Devin Booker I kind of made my groin injury worse”, he said in his end-of-season review interview. “I felt pretty much the same pain as in Game 4”.

A program already drawn up until the “training camp”

The outcome of the season was cruel for the champion, but general wear and tear got the better of the wildest ambitions of Californians, Anthony Davis in the first place. In this interview, Davis recalls that the Lakers only had a two-month break, and that the previous season started in China with the diplomatic incident born from Daryl Morey’s tweet. To this, we must add the Covid crisis, injuries, and the time for a well-deserved rest has therefore arrived for Davis. Mental and physical rest. A real break of a full month before returning to the weight room.

“I’m going to do six consecutive weeks of strength training every day. And then we’ll move on to the basketball part, maybe a month or a month and a half before training camp ”, he added . “I want to get bigger, but I felt heavy when I was playing. So, I went below 110 kilos (note: it had risen to 115 kg). I train and then, once on the floor, if I feel comfortable and that I feel good, I will play at that weight ”.

What role next year?

The offseason will also be an opportunity to make readjustments in terms of the workforce and the game plan, starting with the analysis of what went wrong in this series against the Suns.

“I know that with LeBron and of course the coaches, we will come back and see this series again”, he continued. “It was not a great series offensively and we will have to identify what has been the most effective, with me and LeBron on the field and individually and thus continue to progress.”

While the Californian interior sector is rather supplied with interiors, Anthony Davis stressed that he did not have a profile or a preferred position, as long as the agreement was there.

“I don’t know, I mean we can always switch. We had two greats last year with JaVale McGee and Dwight Howard. This year we had a big stretch and a big one that plays in the paint, so I think I can play either one. When it was with Marc (Gasol), I played in painting and then with Andre Drummond, I played offshore. My ideal profile is the one that works, the one that suits our team ”.
