The Judo Federation may use the Fanderia fronton for its activities

The Guipuzcoan Judo Federation and the Errenteria City Council have signed an agreement by which the federation will be able to use the facilities of the Agustina Otaola fronton to organize championships and other activities during the next two years, a period that will be extendable for another two more years since its signing.

This was announced by the Councilor for Sports, Maite Gartzia, at the facilities of the fronton of Fanderia, where she explained the main objectives of this agreement, such as re-promoting judo in the municipality, an activity that enjoyed some popularity in the municipality And it is wanted to promote its practice also among women, being a sport with equal access, judo has a very even number among men and women who practice it. Gartzia recalled that for some time this sport had a great presence in the municipality, “not only were there many people who practiced it, but also many competitions were held at different levels.”

The Councilor for Sports explained that when the Guipuzcoan Judo Federation asked if they could use any space in Errenteria to bring judo back to the municipality, they raised this space, the Frontón Agustina Otaola de Fanderia, a space that is usually used by EPLE, the Association of Errenteria ball, and in it he trains and many championships are held every week. Some meetings were held to see if the Judo Association and EPLE could share the space and see the needs of each one, the meetings went well and it was concluded that it was possible. So a few weeks ago a test was held and the Gipuzkoa Cadet Championship was held on the fronton and it was carried out with total normality.

The Errenteria City Council will assign to the federation a part of the warehouse located under the fixed stands of the sports facility for shared use with the rest of the facility’s user entities to store their sports equipment.
