Ese Brume made a splash at the Chula Vista Field Festival (California), United States, Saturday, May 29. The Nigerian long jump specialist won with a jump to 7.17m, beating the American Brittney Reese (7.10m), quadruple world champion in the category and Olympic champion in 2012. Ese Brume has largely beat his previous personal best (7.05m in August 2019). The bronze medalist of the last Worlds in Doha also established the best world performance of the year. And above all, Ese Brume is the new holder of the African long jump record. She improved on the previous best continental brand that belonged to another Nigerian, Chioma Ajunwa, who jumped 7.12m to become an Olympic champion on August 2, 1996 in Atlanta.
