(New York) New York Mets manager Luis Rojas said on Thursday right-hander Noah Syndergaard will not pitch for the next six weeks after a magnetic resonance imaging test reveals inflammation in his elbow law.

Syndergaard, who underwent a ligament reconstruction to the same elbow last year, appeared to be just weeks away from joining the Mets before leaving after just one inning his second fitness start with the A-level club from St. Lucie, Tuesday.
Its velocity, usually in the high 90 mph range, was more like around 85 mph.
Syndergaard is one of many Mets players whose name is on the injured list, which includes four pitchers in all. Carlos Carrasco (right hamstrings), Taijuan Walker (lateral muscles) and Jordan Yamamoto (right shoulder) are the others.
Carrasco, who was to fulfill the role of nO 2 in Syndergaard’s absence, is on the injured list for 60 days and will not return until at least July.
Any further delay in Syndergaard’s rehab could well cost him a full second season, possibly even ending his association with the Mets. The 28-year-old pitcher is eligible for full self-sufficiency after the campaign.
