FC Wacker Innsbruck fires Dennis Aogo after three months

Chaos at Wacker Innsbruck: Dennis Aogo has to leave the management of the Austrian club – after only three months. The ex-pro has a guess as to why.

The crisis of FC Wacker Innsbruck continues: The club dismissed Dennis Aogo after only three months in the management. As the 34-year-old announced in a statement, the connection to an auditing process should be the background for the dismissal. A few days ago, Aogo and his business partners Jens Duve and Dennis Duve made corresponding demands. There was even talk of financial irregularities.

Now the board of directors makes short work and dismisses the trio of managing directors. However, none of the parties gave an official reason for the dismissal.

Aogo: “Yesterday, Sunday at 6:39 pm, we were invited to the club house ‘to check the documents’ by email from Vice President Dr. Thomas Kerle Explanation.

Aogo continues: “If there is a suspicion of financial inconsistencies, it must be investigated. At all levels and by external third parties. That is the minimum level of professional standards and transparency.” The management has therefore requested an independent investigation. “We are all the more surprised that we are suddenly recalled,” said Aogo.

The association rejected allegations a few days ago

According to the Austrian “Kurier”, it is about the support of a “financially strong partner”, Matthias Siems from Hamburg, who in March 2020 had promised payments in the millions. These were supposedly a long time coming. However, Aogo, Duve, and Duve had a good relationship with Siems. After the required audit of the trio of managing directors, all contacts with the investor are now cut, the board wants to take over the processing itself again.

The association has not commented so far, but a few days ago rejected the allegations of financial inconsistencies: “They have no basis whatsoever,” it said. The board of directors emphasized that the management of FC Wacker Innsbruck GmbH was cordially invited to “visit the office again”. However, this meeting no longer took place.
