‘Maxima Latvija’ becomes a long-term partner of LBS in youth basketball

Sport and an active lifestyle play a very important role in the development of young people. Basketball has been one of the most popular sports in Latvia for years – it is regularly practiced by more than 7,000 young people. However, there is still room for growth in basketball – by improving training conditions, creating a development-friendly environment and increasing the availability of basketball both in Riga and throughout Latvia. In order to facilitate the search for solutions to these and other challenges in the development of youth basketball, from 2021 the company “Maxima Latvija” has become a long-term cooperation partner of the Latvian Basketball Union (LBS) and the Latvian Youth Basketball League (LJBL) for the next three years. anniversary in Latvia, is constantly expanding support for youth sports, reports LBS.

At the beginning of the cooperation, both the Latvian Basketball Union and the Latvian Youth Basketball League, as well as Maxima Latvija have evaluated the directions in which to improve the youth basketball development process in the long run. Within the framework of the cooperation, it is planned to improve the basketball infrastructure in Latvia, especially by promoting the availability of sports in regions outside Riga, as well as to supplement the growth opportunities of young basketball players not only in professional sports, but also in training and responsible personality development.

Extensive activities are also planned to supplement the knowledge of coaches, as well as to involve and educate the parents of young athletes, for example, by organizing seminars and meetings with such specialists as physiotherapists and sports psychologists.
