Excellent start for Soria table tennis

This weekend the regional league for the Soriano Table Tennis Club began. In a situation conditioned by the COVID pandemic, the Castilla y León Table Tennis Federation, since it has been authorized by the competent authorities, has been communicating and demanding that the clubs involved comply with all the necessary sanitary measures to guarantee the safety of players, coaches and referees.

Due to this circumstance, this year, it is competed by means of the concentration system to play in four days in the locations of the different clubs. The teams are divided into two groups of 5 teams each, and the first two from each group will play the promotion phase.

The CTM Soriano shares a group with the teams CD Universidad de Burgos (Burgos), CD Tenis Mesa Ebro (Miranda de Ebro), CTM Peñaranda (Salamanca), and CD Seghos Espirido (Segovia).

On Saturday, January 30, the matchday was played in Soria, which has been decimated, because CD Seghos has withdrawn from the league this last week and CD TM Ebro has not been able to attend.

The balance of the day for CTM Soriano has been excellent with two hard-earned and well-deserved victories. The results of the clashes have been:

CTM Soriano 4 – 1 University of Burgos.

CTM Soriano 4 – 0 CTM Peñaranda.

University of Burgos 4 – 0 CTM Peñaranda.

The day leaves a very good taste in the mouth for Soria players David Ramírez, Ismael Sanz, Mario Ortega and Emma Lozano, not only because of the victory they achieved but also because of the good level of play shown by all of them. The Soria team managed to win 28 of the 39 games played.

The debut of the young Soria referee Jorge Laorden Llorente stands out on this day.

The next day will be played in Burgos on February 6, to which CTM Soriano will go very optimistic in search of another victory that will shorten the distance to the goal that has been set this season, which is to be promoted to the Division of Honor.
