The NBA requires players to wear a mask at all times before going on the field

Houston (USA), Jan 5 (EFE) .- The continuous cases of covid-19 that continue to occur among NBA players has led the league to claim all the teams that from now on the professionals They have to wear the mask and can only take it off when they enter the field.
The NBA considers that it is essential to improve face protection with the mask and that is why it has transmitted to the teams the stricter policy it has established for when the players are on the bench.
The last major player affected by the forty-seven days after having been in contact with a person infected with covid-19 was forward Kevin Durant, of the Brooklyn Nets.
The new rules released, which will take effect this Tuesday, establish that players dressed for matches and eligible on the official list that coaches present to referees must wear a face mask until they enter the field.
All players and coaches must wear masks when outside of the team environment if they are near other players and coaches.
Additionally, players must disclose the names of any private trainer, therapist, chiropractor, or other specialist with whom they work outside of team facilities.
The internal memo sent to teams is the latest update to a plan that the NBA and the players’ union continue to evaluate, especially in recent days, given the continued rise in COVID-19 cases after the holiday season.
If players work with coaches or therapists outside of team facilities, they are also reminded to wear masks to cover their mouths and take all possible precautions, much more so than when under the protection of their respective organizations.
With respect to the updated mask rules, a player leaving a game is not required, but is “strongly recommended,” the league said, that he don a mask after returning to the bench area.
The rules reset at the halftime break, players not in action to start the third quarter must wear masks until they enter the game.
The NBA has required inactive players to wear masks for the duration of the game, and that rule remains unchanged. Coaches are also mandated to wear masks while on the bench, another rule that remains in effect.
The league also told teams that it has allowed one more person in the travel group.
Now there are 46 people, and the new authorization is framed as the reinforcement that teams can have with a trusted professional who is in charge of handling contact tracing requirements during visitor trips.
The NBA reiterated that, apart from following the guidelines they have established, the best way to fight against coronavirus infections is to maintain maximum individual responsibility when outside the team’s environment.
