Gallo, who has been a FIFA international judge since 2018, will be together with Chilean Julio Bascuñán the South American quota in the Club World Cup. Both had worked in the final of the Copa América 2019 between Brazil and Peru, where the Colombian was Bascuñán’s VAR assistant.

In addition to the South Americans, Gallo and Bascuñán, the VAR will also have the presence of a Moroccan, a Qatari, a Canadian and two Dutch.
FIFA reported that all the selected referees will begin their preparation a week before the first match, and that Qatar, as the host country, will provide the necessary biosecurity measures in the midst of the difficult situation the world is going through due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
