The drama of Patota Morquio, the former soccer player looking for work on social networks: “They took me to jail because my dog scratched my mother”

Former Uruguayan soccer player Sebastian Morquio live a delicate situation. After spending 30 days in prison, on Friday, January 22, the day of his 45th birthday, he broke into his account Twitter And wrote: I am looking for work. Anyone who knows something to contact me here. Thank you. If it’s football, a goal “. He asserted that his situation of need is because he ran out of money due to a debt from a footballer. And that he lives a difficult situation because he supports his mother and son.

About his arrest, in dialogue with the program High Pressure (TyC Sports) Patota said: “It’s going to be kind of funny and I apologize to those who were deprived of liberty, but I spent 30 days on vacation – I can say – because I went to a farm in Florida, which is the best jail in Uruguay. I was arrested because my dog scratched my mom”.

“It was a bit longer … The police came, they said that I had disrespected, but hey, there are a few more things than my lawyer Víctor de Lavalle, who is the best lawyer in Uruguay, for which I thank him and Karen Pintos, who is the other lawyer who was with me. Victor since my father passed away he was always with me and I call him ‘uncle’. He was a crack with me. Today I am living in a place of him ”, he added.

Although the complaint would have been from a neighbor of his mother, he responded: “It doesn’t matter who reported me. All I want is to get ahead for my family. I believe in God and he gives his best warriors their worst wars. I need a job because my mom is on dialysis and I have child support”.

Also, he gave details of how that month was between November 21 and December 21 in which he was behind bars. In the first 16 days, he admitted that he was “embuzado”, that it is a punishment cell, very small, where the needs are done in the same place and it has no windows. “They kept me ‘boxed’ for 16 days without being able to shave or bathe”, He said.

In addition, he maintained that part of his family betrayed him. “My mother trusted a part of her family. My mother collected some pesos so that things would arrive to me and the package never arrived. It is difficult to play with a 79 year old lady. Let your mother gather something to bring her son … I always told my mother that those were traitors. When I was with money those were with me ”.

“In the Florida jail they treated me very well, especially those in my cell. They gave me boxer shorts and T-shirts. He only had an original Racing jersey. They fed me. I was able to shave. More than grateful to those boys ”, he highlighted.

Regarding why he came to this situation, he admitted: “I made a lot of money as a footballer, but the money was spent. Today I live day by day. Thats the reality”. About why he ran out of money, he accused a footballer to owe him $ 40,000. “I’m not going to give the name, but without money I found myself needing to ask for a job. I had no idea the repercussion it was going to have. As I did so many wrong things in my life, I think it is a man to ask for a job and be honest, without realizing what could happen, “he said.

Morquio began his career at Nacional de Montevideo in 1996 and then arrived at Huracán in 1999 with which he achieved promotion to Primera in 2000. As a fierce defender he got involved, soon he earned the respect of the people of the Globe. He finished putting them in his pocket with a goal that converted San Lorenzo in the Apertura 2000 and that was a triumph for the Parque Patricios team, which that day won 2 to 1.

Once he retired in 2012 he dedicated himself first to directing inferiors and later to mediating players. “In 2014 I led sixth and seventh divisions in Cerro. Then I was assistant to the first team of Pablo Rodriguez. Then I got into the intermediation of players. Led to Leonardo Burián to Godoy Cruz and to Colón, to Rafa Garcia to Atlético Tucumán, to other players in Tigre when he was Caruso (Lombardi), to Chile I took Nacho Lemos”.

Regarding his job prospects, he said: “They want me to be a broker in a Paraguayan company that works in Argentina. I told them that I am an entrepreneur because I know how to sell players, but I don’t know how to sell properties, although if they teach me, I do. The person who contacted me is talking to the owner of the company and that is not confirmed ”.

“Each one lives as best he can, I don’t judge people. I don’t regret anything I did. It was all an experience and it allows me to get ahead. Now I live in normal conditions and I am in a house ”, he described.

And he keeps a good memory of Argentina since until now it was where he was most called from: “I had more calls from Argentina than from my own country and that hurts more. I’m going back to Buenos Aires. I always said that the porteño taught me to live ”. He was contacted by two former colleagues from Huracán: “They communicated Gaston Casas and Fabian Carrizo, The big captain. From the club (Huracán) I don’t have to call anyone, nor did anyone call me. I know they are in full political phase and I am not going to get involved. But they have my phone. But also I know that I am a politically incorrect person”.

Bad companies?

Morquio was not only an intermediary for footballers. He revealed that when Huracán and Boca played in Uruguay got 500 tickets to each fan. “La 12 was very good and I was with them until they entered the Nacional field, which is in Central Park and is in a humble neighborhood. I accompanied them because I am a friend of Rafa di Zeo. Here they filmed me and took photos many times. They wondered how these monkeys got in and they start to label you ”, he wielded.

Bianchi’s interest

Morquio also realized why it was a priority of Carlos Bianchi to incorporate it Boca. It was in 2001, after the departure of Jorge Bermudez. “Came Osvaldo Piazza (Viceroy’s friend) who was our technician at Huracán and told me that Bianchi loved me. But in Hurricane they told me that they did not sell players to Argentine teams. Later they sold to Lucho Gonzalez to River… Anyway, thank God, Skinny Schiavi broke it and won everything with Boca ”.

He also revealed: “I did not sue Huracán for $ 350,000 and I changed that money to go play in Russia and I was the first Uruguayan to go to that country.”

The moment came when Patota Morquio stopped the ball and raised his head. He is going through a difficult time, but he doesn’t give up: “I think it gives me the head and the heart to get ahead.”
